no olvidado – not forgotten

No Olvidado (Not Forgotten) acts as a memorial honoring those who have died crossing the Mexican/American border. Unlike most memorials, this is an incomplete list and will always remain so, no matter how many na- mes are added or collected. So many people who have diedmigrating to the US from Mexico over the years will never be identified. The list of immigrantdeaths used here was supplied by the organization Border An- gels, whose mission it is to stop unnecessary deaths of individuals traveling through the Imperial Valley desert region and the mountains surrounding San Diego County, as well as the area located around the Mexican/ American border. A high percentage of these unnecessary deaths were caused by attempts to cross in extreme weather conditions, while some are the results of racially motivated crimes.
