The camera was an essential tool for Corita, allowing her to look deeply and slowly at the world around her and, in her words, “view life without being distracted by content.” Ault will present a selection of images from CAC’s collection of more than fifteen thousand recently-digitized 35mm slides. Taken between 1955 and 1968, these photographs depict everyday life in an extraordinary community and embody Corita’s philosophy of looking. CAC will also be celebrating the release of Ordinary Things Will Be Signs For Us, a new book of Corita’s photographs published by Jandlbooks and magichour podcast. Copies will be available for sale before and after the event.
