The film features a found photograph from the early 1980s intercut with new footage of four performers, each with their own distinctive discipline and style.
The movement sequences draw on a wide repertoire of images from popular culture and Hamilton’s own work, including her previous collaborations with the performers.
This major new film commission has been conceived in response to the Hayward Gallery’s architecture and locality.
Anthea Hamilton was born in 1978 in London where she lives and works.
This commissioned sculpture by Anthea Hamilton is generously supported by the Hayward Gallery Commissioning Committee, with additional support from Thomas Dane Gallery, Candida and Zak Gertler, and kaufmann repetto, Milan / New York
