Bice Lazzari. Catalogue Raisonné
Bice Lazzari (1900–1981) emerges as a complex and multifaceted figure within the landscape of twentieth-century Italian art. Through both her life and artistic career, she spans almost the entire twentieth century, and her work offers not only the opportunity to trace a coherent creative trajectory but also to understand the historical and cultural transformations that shaped Italy throughout the century.
Bice Lazzari’s oeuvre invites a comprehensive reassessment in which the different techniques and materials she employed—from painting to textile works—are understood as integral aspects of a consistent and deeply personal artistic investigation.
Bice Lazzari. Catalogue Raisonné is published in two volumes. The first volume includes essays by Antonella Soldaini on the entirety of Lazzari’s career, by Emily Braun on her interwar production, and by Cecilia Alemani on the artist’s relationship with several contemporary women artists. These essays are followed by a selection of approximately 300 colour plates accompanied by the artist’s own statements on her artistic practice.
The second volume comprises the catalogue raisonné itself, featuring images and catalogue entries for all works authenticated by the Archivio Bice Lazzari and supported by scholarly research. It also includes a bio-bibliography by Veronica Locatelli, together with reference sections covering exhibitions, bibliography, and photographic credits.
