eva rothschild | an exhibition for children (and other people)
Exclusively curated for Kunstverein Hannover by Jeremy Deller, An Exhibition for Children (and Other People) brings together outstanding works by internationally renowned conceptual artists that create playful, interactive, and poetic moments. The exhibition invites viewers to explore the world with the curious, open spirit of a child and to approach art with fresh eyes. Some works are iconic pieces of conceptual art that blend imagination and ingenuity – and in doing so, humorously subvert or dethrone the grand rules of the art world. Playfulness is central to all works on view: /$%0123!4.53 documents children’s games around the world focusing on the power of imagination. lara favaretto frequently strips things of their primary function, exchanging the logic of reason for that of connections. peter fischli and david weiss question everyday life with subtle humor and their iconic film Der lauf der dinge follows a meticulously staged chain reaction. ryan gander combines children’s play with adult thought patterns and continues to surprise with ever changing perspectives – here with a new work consisting of over 2000 questions that are ambiguous to say the least. rivane neuenschwander treats language as a flexible material and encourages active participation and the changing of roles. temitayo ogunbiyi designs sculptures as playgrounds that want to be climbed. roman ondak has achieved cult status with his participatory performance work mesuring the universe in which everyone leaves their mark. eva rothschild’s fragile sculptures appeal to the desire for exploration, propelling many children and young people, while -%82(!G;$2D.’* offers visitors an (almost) classic (nude) drawing course.
