Selected from the Bonollo collection, the works on view explore the body as a means of relation and an instrument for investigating human existence. Long exposed to the gaze of the other, the body is shaped by limits and constraints; its freedom is often curtailed by the world and its conditions, yet it also remains a vital force capable of asserting freedom, identity, and transformation. Even today, the body continues to emerge as both a physical and symbolic site of resistance and the affirmation of rights, identity, and emotional experience — as well as of the legitimacy to exist in the form and condition that most truly represent us.
