On one of the busiestjunctions of the Netherlands the international art Call of the malltakesplace, in the summer of 2013.
AtHoogCatharijne and Utrecht Central Station, in the corridors, on the walls, on roofs and ‘hiddengems‘ new artworks, by over 25 artists, will be shown. The exhibitioncoversHoogCatharijneastime capsule and pressure cooker, where the major changes in the outside world are shown. Call of the Mall isorganized by Foundation for Art in the station area in collaboration with the Municipality of Utrecht.
Call of the Mall The world ischanging. Our world isbecoming more technologically and digitaler:‘fast’ and ‘many‘ determineourworkday. We are continuouslyconnected by social media, butdowestillhaverealcontact? The financialcrisis, the shiftingforces in Europe and the world: there are manyconflictingviewson how the world ischanging and thesechangeslead. AlsoHoogCatharijnechanges. The 40-year-oldcomplexisdrasticallychanged. And its future isuncertain. Ifwe can buyeverything over the internet, why do westill go to a store? And ifwe can work anywhere, why do westill go to the office? A new world isemerging in the world and we are seeking. In the mini-society HoogCatharijne, artiststry to come to grips with the changes and theyhold a mirror to us.
