In this exhibition, a set of large murals decorated with furniture highlight universal themes, such as family, meaning or existence, as well as others that have traditionally been kept at a distance from the world of “serious” art, such as decorative art or plumbing problems. Lily van der Stokker looks for beauty in ordinary things, including ugly ones. Joy, well-being, and everything that can counteract these states are among his favorite subjects. She says about her work that it is a difficult art that is easy to access (“Easy looking art that is difficult”).
