Under the title A Hidden Well, the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (nbk), in cooperation with Uferhallen eV, presents an exhibition and event project in which the immediate vicinity of the Uferhallen and Uferstudios—a center of Berlin’s art and cultural production—becomes the setting for site-specific interventions. From diverse perspectives, the invited artists comment on and question the stories, architectures, and images that continue to shape the Gesundbrunnen district today.

Gesundbrunnen owes its name to the discovery of a mineral spring in the 18th century on what is now Badstraße. What was once a spa and bathing resort, and later an industrial and working-class district, developed into an urban hub for diverse communities and cultural actors. The exhibition “A Hidden Well” invites visitors to contemplate the complex traces of time and brings into focus places and spaces that, like the studio and workshop complex on the Uferhallen site, are part of Berlin’s cultural heritage.
