biography

Nicolas Party was born in Switzerland in 1980. He lives and works in New York.

Nicolas Party revises art history by communicating through his own language of recurring motifs of still lifes, landscapes, and portraiture in his paintings, drawings, and installations. Utilizing canonical forms and classical mediums in contemporary and sometimes ephemeral ways, as in his drawings and paintings directly on the walls, his practice challenges hierarchies and suggests a universal art which defies the aura of time.
